Company ProfileKewpee Sandwich Shoppe. A Lansing institution since opening in 1923, Kewpees, is Lansing’s oldest restaurant, a fact not lost on Gary Weston, third generation (out of four) that have run the business since his grandfather and step-grandmother started it over 80 years ago. Since then, we’ve survived and thrived by offering customers “burgers and beyond.” Weston's Kewpee Sandwich Shop is a
proud member of Kewpee's (named after a 1920s doll that came with a
cupid) is the originator of the olive burger. We used to buy olives in 55-gallon
wooden kegs, and stuff in the pimentos by hand. Dedication and attention to
details like that are surely part of the reason why people come from all over
the country (literally California to New York) to sample olive burgers. People
throw olive burger parties, have them flown to wherever they are, and all come
to the same conclusion: They can’t be beat.
